Battle for Bunker Hill British vs. Patriots June 17, 1775
British Lieutenant-General Thomas Gage led the British soldiers’ into battle. Amrtemas commander of New England minute men led them into battle against the British.
The battle of Bunker Hill all started when the American militia started to blockade the British in Boston on. The British were stuck in Boston their supplies were running out. Britain decided to send ships to the Boston harbor. General Howe was one of three generals leading them and assisting General Gage. They landed on the southern peninsula by Breed’s Hill. While the ships were coming, the Americans or Patriots were building a fort on Breed’s Hill. General Prescott ordered the fortification to be done. The Americans had some troops go to the sea shore, so the British could not make a flank attack. Most of the American troops were on Bunker Hill. Only a few were persuaded to go to Breed’s Hill.
As the British troops landed, General Howe sent the light infantry to attack the area surrounding Moulton Hill. The infantry retreated and had a heavy loss. Then Howe moved into a frontal attack. This attack was pushed back and the British got another heavy loss. The left side of the British suffered from a fire in Charleston. After this attack, there was supposed to be a bombardment onto the Americans but the 6-pounder gun had 12-pounder balls.
The British made another attack on the front of the Americans. The Americans used all their ammunition and was forced to retreat. The British General did not intend to pursue them because without any ammo they would not be able to fight. The British took over Boston, Bunker Hill and the surrounding area.
In the end the British had an edge over the American Soldiers and they won Bunker Hill.
